The introduction of SonocurĀ® treatment, especially to North
America, is so recent that many potential applications are still undergoing
clinical evaluation. The treatment may prove to be beneficial in a number
of other disorders, and Dr. George Dahmen of Hamburg, Germany has reported success
in the treatment of patients with Dupuytren's disease, avascular necrosis of
the femoral head, localized osteoarthritis, phantom limb pain and tendinitis and arthritis in
the hand.
It has also been used
in Peyronie's disease, and is under investigation in the treatment of
carpal tunnel syndrome and partial tears of the medial collateral ligament
(MCL) of the knee. Obviously much work will continue to be done to
evaluate the effectiveness of this treatment in these and other disorders.
